The Scenematic Studios Process
Your career deserves more than a demo reel...
it deserves a scene that feels like it's from a network show.
it deserves a scene that feels like it's from a network show.
STEP 1
The Consultation
Every reel begins with a strategy session designed to position you for bookings. On Zoom, we’ll get to know your brand, your goals, and how you show up on camera — so we can lock in scene ideas that actually move your career forward.
The call runs about 20–40 minutes. By the end, you’ll know exactly what working with us looks like — and whether we’re the right team to take your reel to the next level.
STEP 2
Confirming Your Shoot
Once we lock your scene concept and package, we’ll send you a link to place a 50% retainer. That payment secures your spot and kicks production into motion.
From there, we confirm shoot dates and start building everything out.
STEP 3
The Writing Process
One of our writers will hop on a 30-minute Zoom with you to shape a script built around your brand and castable types.
The goal: a scene that feels right from TV and positions you exactly where casting can say “yes.” You’ll get chances to refine and approve the script until it’s dialed in.
STEP 4
The Pre-Production Process
After your script is finalized, we allow about two weeks to lock in casting and give you rehearsal time. We’ll recommend strong, reliable actors from our roster — people we’ve worked with and trust. If you prefer, we can post a public casting call, but quality is not guaranteed.
You’ll be directly involved in the casting process. Many actors find it eye-opening to see how submissions come in and to experience the decision-making side. Ultimately, you’ll have final say in who shares the screen with you.
Once you’ve chosen, we’ll connect you with your scene partner so you can rehearse via Zoom or in person. Meanwhile, our team handles everything else: props, locations, crew, and equipment. All you need to focus on is the performance.
STEP 5
Shooting Your Scene
The big day is here.
Most scenes take 2 hours, starting with 30–45 minutes of coaching, blocking, and building the backstory so every moment feels grounded. Our on-set coach makes sure your performance reads authentic and bookable — the kind agents, managers, and casting directors take seriously.
We capture multiple angles for full cinematic coverage. Once we wrap, you’ll settle any remaining balance (in-person or later via online payment link) so we can move straight into editing.
STEP 6
The Post-Production Process
Editing takes about 1–2 weeks, depending on how many scenes you shot and how complex the setup was. If you’d like raw footage, just let us know. We’ll shape your best takes into a cut that highlights your brand and delivers maximum impact.
You’ll then review the edit and share notes. From there, we handle the finishing touches: color grading, sound design, and any VFX needed. We may add music when it strengthens the scene’s tone, and you’ll also get a clean version without music.
STEP 7
Finalizing Your Shoot
Most projects take 1–2 rounds of revisions to get everything just right. Once you sign off, we’ll re-format your scene for seamless upload to Actors Access, Backstage, and any other platforms you use.
From there, you’re set — your final, industry-ready scene goes out to you and to your scene partners.

STEP 8
Where to Go Next
Your new scene is more than just footage — it’s the start of momentum. Many actors take the next step by cutting a full compilation reel that blends their Scenematic scene with existing work (www.demoreelsnyc.com), giving reps and casting directors a complete picture of what they can do. Others refresh their headshots (www.cityheadshots.com) to keep every part of their package aligned.
